This workshop provides the foundational skills necessary to use ArcGIS Online. Through a series of hands-on activities, it guides you through creating new maps and sharing them with others. It also helps you explore ArcGIS Online tools for visualizing and analyzing data. All activities relate to aspects of community planning and decision making.

This workshop is designed for inexperienced users of ArcGIS Online that want to develop basic skills necessary to take advantage of this powerful technology.

  • Navigating ArcGIS Online

  • How to bring SAVI and other data resources into ArcGIS Online

  • How to change the symbols and labels on a map

  • How to leverage basic analysis tools in ArcGIS Online

 

USEFUL KNOWLEDGE TO HAVE BEFORE ATTENDING

No prior knowledge is required, but you may find it useful to attend the Module 1A: Framing the Problem workshop prior to this one so that you have a basic understanding of the data and tools available in SAVI. You should also consider attending Module 3B: Using SAVI Data in Other GIS Tools: An Overview workshop so that you are familiar with the goals of tools like ArcGIS Online as well as how to obtain an ArcGIS Online license.
