Event Navigation

Older adults are among the fastest growing demographic group both nationally and in Central Indiana. This means that in the future, there will be more older adults in the population than ever before. What will the characteristics and needs be of this older adult population? Will there be adequate services and care to meet the needs of this population so they can adequately age in place?

Most individuals want to stay within their communities as they grow older, stay connected to relationships built up sometimes over many years, and maintain freedom and autonomy in daily living. However, depending both on one’s health and the resources available within a community, this may not be a feasible possibility for all within Central Indiana.

We will closely examine this important topic of aging in place for older adults within Central Indiana, with an initial focus on what are some characteristics and potential needs of older adults who want to age in place.

This webinar is the first of a two-part series that will explore whether or not we are ready to help older adults in Central Indiana age in place. This first part will describe the community-dwelling older adult population in the context of the available caregiver and healthcare workforce. The second part will focus on the availability of programs and services to help older adults age in place and identify gaps in services that will need to be addressed.
