The Urban Institute awarded Polis an $80,000 grant as part of an 18-month cross-site study funded by the Tableau Foundation to analyze city police budgets. We will pair the police budget data with SAVI’s neighborhood demographic and socio-economic data to understand inequities in spending and allocation. The results will inform the city budget process and ultimately how and where funding is allocated for violence reduction efforts within the community. This work, along with our entire equity research agenda in 2022, will be guided by an equity research advisory committee comprised of experts and members of affected communities.
