With each census, census tracts are redrawn slightly, making it difficult to analyze change over the long-term for neighborhood. The Neighborhood Change Database is a commercially available product that "crosswalks" these historical tract boundaries with current tract boundaries, so census data from 1970 on is estimated for current tract boundaries.
