80 years after the federal government encouraged lenders to consider “neighborhood characteristics” like race in their lending decisions, redlining and segregation have a measurable impact on economic opportunity, health outcomes, the environment, and violence.

Police used force over 1,600 times in 2019. Officers use force on black residents at a rate 2.6 times higher than white residents.

When a student changes schools often, it can impact education outcomes. Charter schools tend to have the highest transfer rates, and a school’s share of students from low-income families has a strong relationship to transfer rates.

Using recent, local data to improve on food access measures, we find that an estimated 200,000 Indianapolis residents have low food access and live in low income areas.

With New Park Planned in Fishers, How Do Parks Relate to Property Value?

Indy has 51 sq. meters of park per person, while Fishers has only 4.3 sq. meters per person. In some neighborhoods, properties close to parks are worth more, in some they are worth less. On average, property near parks is worth $5K less than others in that neighborhood.
